Customs statistics show that in 2017, imports and exports of plastic products (HS code 3918,3922-3926 products) totaled 46.350 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 8.65% over the same period last year. Among them, exports amounted to 41.264 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.78% over the same period of last year; imports amounted to 5.086 billion US dollars, an increase of 7.60%. The export of plastic products in 2017 has the following characteristics.
Exports to Europe and the United States accounted for a larger proportion of the market. Exports to the United States accounted for 30.43% of the US $12.556 billion, up 13.29% from a year earlier; exports to the EU accounted for 17.69% of the US $7.69 billion, up 7.96% from a year earlier; exports to ASEAN accounted for 8.72% of the US $3.596 billion, up 8.82% from a year earlier; exports to Japan accounted for 6.583 billion US dollars, up 3.33% from a year earlier.
General trade is the main form of export trade. General trade exports amounted to 25.450 billion US dollars, accounting for 61.67 percent, up 13.16 percent, processing trade exports amounted to 8.432 billion US dollars, accounting for 20.43 percent, up 0.72 percent, and border small trade exports amounted to 459 million US dollars, accounting for 1.11 percent, up 8.64 percent.
Private enterprises are the main force of export. The total number of plastic export enterprises in the year was 77,476, of which 1932 were state-owned enterprises, accounting for 4.17% of the total value of exports, down 3.48%; 18,764 were foreign-funded enterprises, accounting for 29.48% of the total value of exports of 12.164 billion US dollars, up 3.19%; 56,515 were private enterprises, accounting for 27.343 billion US dollars. Weight 66.26%, an increase of 12.40% over the same period.
Guangdong ranks first in export cities and provinces. Guangdong's exports reached 12.361 billion US dollars, accounting for 29.96%, up 11.00% year-on-year; Zhejiang's exports reached 10.289 billion US dollars, accounting for 24.93%, up 5.56%; Jiangsu's exports reached 4.566 billion US dollars, accounting for 14.44%, up 19.73%; Shanghai's exports reached 2.637 billion US dollars, accounting for 6.39%, up 3.84%; Shandong's exports reached 2.340 billion US dollars, up 3.84%; Fujian's exports accounted for 5.67%, up 6.54%, and 2.303 billion US dollars, up 5.58% and 1.56% respectively. These provinces and cities accounted for 86.97% of the total exports of the country.
